Erdem Moralioglu Wins First British Vogue Fashion Fund Award
April 1st, 2010Erdem Moralioglu has become a favorite among clients like Samantha Cameron, Michelle Obama and Sarah Brown. The 30-year-old fashion designer, who is based in London, has also become a favorite among Vogue and the British Fashion Council, who just awarded him the first £200,000 prize from their fashion fund.
The British Fashion Council/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund award also includes a bespoke mentoring program that is tailored to assist young designers in achieving his career goals during the next 12 months. He will also get access to high-profile mentors and get a jump-start on his transition from developing a creative business to taking his fashion brand global.
Talking about being chosen for the award, Erdem said that he is thrilled to be the winner, and it’s an honor. The prize will help him and his team take their business to the next level, he continued. The support of Vogue and the British Fashion Council will allow them to grow their business internationally, he added.
Harold Tillman, the chairman of the British Fashion Council, said that Erdem has excellent credentials as a designer, an impressive plan for his business, as well as the ability to create beautiful collections every season. He is proud that the fund will play a key role in the development of his already prominent designer business in Britain and abroad.
Erdem was chosen from a shortlist of 8 designers that were judged by a panel of experts in the fashion industry and fund sponsor representatives that Vogue British editor Alexandra Shulman chaired. She commented that he makes beautiful clothes that are already recognized as his alone.
