Emma Watson’s Clothing Range

February 1st, 2010

Emma Watson, the British Harry Potter hottie, is creating a new range of outfits for People Tree, the ethical clothing brand. The line will include a range of clean, sexy styles, which will be made with imported and organic cotton, and she is very excited about doing it.

The Harry Potter star already has fashion contracts with Chanel and Burberry labels, and now she is working with People Tree as creative advisor for the new range. The line is aimed at the 16-24 age range and hopes to alleviate poverty by the materials they use.

Watson says that she is excited about the idea of using fashion as a tool to lessen poverty, knowing that it was something she could help make a difference with. She continued that she thinks young people like her are starting to be more aware of the environmental and humanitarian issues that surround fast fashion.

She wants to make good choices, but the options just aren’t out there, Watson added. She also noted that she doesn’t have any desire to be a designer, and she’s doing this range because she really cares about fair trade and ethical fashion.

The fashion line at People Tree consists of 26 styles for women and 15 for men, while it also includes a small collection of accessories. It will have knitwear, jersey dresses, shorts, cotton T-shirts and poplin skirts.

The clothes are made by fair trade groups completely by hand, as they use knitting, embroidery and weaving, to help create livelihoods for the 16-24 age groups in Nepal, India and Bangladesh. The new range is described as clean, sexy and easy to wear, and shoppers will find it in stores by late February.
