ESPN model sues hotels after being stalked

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Erin Andrews, the stunning sports reporter for ESPN and standout performer of the last season of Dancing with the Stars, is taking legal action.

Andrews has announced she will be suing a number of hotels who allowed a known stalker to find out where she was staying, who then proceeded to film her nude in her hotel room and post the footage online.

The glamorous Andrews, 32, is suing both the Radisson Hotels International and Marriott International Hotels for negligence, as well as invasion of privacy and causing emotional distress and invasion of privacy. Her actions follow the sentencing of former Illinois insurance salesman Michael David Barrett four months ago to two-and-a-half years in prison after he was found guilty on a range of stalking charges.

The prosecution in the case alleged Barrett had made contact with 14 separate hotels to ascertain reservation information on Miss Andrews. Barrett pleaded guilty to renting hotel rooms next door to Andrews in no less than three cities, while firstly in Columbus, Ohio, in 2008 and then Nashville, Tennessee, in 2009 he was found to have created peepholes and used his mobile phone to video Andrews. He then attempted to sell the videos to online celebrity site TMZ who declined to purchase the footage. He then uploaded the video himself online where it went viral in a matter of days.

Andrews is seeking $1.2 million (£784,000) from the respective hotels and from Barrett himself, in the Cook County Circuit Court in Chicago, for severe and permanent emotional distress.

Fergie to apologise on Oprah

Friday, May 28th, 2010

The Duchess of York is set to guest on the Oprah Winfrey show in an attempt to redeem her recent misdemeanours

Fergie, who has already appeared on Oprah in her role as spokesperson for WeightWatchers, is to talk to the daytime queen for around ten minutes, and will not be paid for her time.

With the cash-for-access to the royals scandal still fresh in the air, many have seen the move as risky, but insiders claim that the disgraced Duchess will use the airtime to plug her children’s books.

Fergie, 50, has apparently realised that her future lies on the other side of the Atlantic, and will use the time to try and repair her reputation ahead of potential future business opportunities. Sources close to the Duchess have reasoned that Fergie is trying to keep her American fans onside or else face final shame.

Fergie was recently filmed by an undercover cameraman, masquerading as an international tycoon, accepting a cash bung of £27,000. In return, she guaranteed access to the unpaid British trade envoy, her former husband Prince Andrew, who claims no knowledge of any such deal.

After widespread public rebuke, and a little sympathy, Fergie is banking on the millions of Oprah’s viewers lending her a sympathetic ear. She will do this by apologising to the prime time public for her behaviour claim friends.

Fergie agreed to the deal after being approached by producers at her Wednesday night book conference in New York, with taping scheduled for today and tomorrow ahead of a likely appearance next Tuesday. It is not known whether Fergie has travelled to the Chicago-based Oprah Studios or if she will appear via satellite link.

Baby food diet for Jennifer Anniston

Friday, May 7th, 2010

Jennifer Aniston has apparently been dieting on baby food as she endeavours to trim down for her upcoming movie. The celebrated actress has taken to the unusual weight-loss method ahead of her travels to Hawaii, where she is due to appear on set of ‘Just Go With It’.

Anniston enlisted the trainer-to-the-stars Tracy Anderson to help her shed the pounds, with Anderson recommending The Baby Food Cleanse eating plan. The child-friendly snack system features 14 separate portions of food which is pureed much like baby meals, and then followed up with a hearty adult-sized dinner.

The results have apparently been excellent, with Anniston reporting she has lost 7lbs since going on the diet. Anniston has also admitted to a fondness for wine, coffee and dairy products.

The leading fashion and celebrity magazine Grazia recently featured a story which followed Anniston when she was in Europe last month. A source told Grazia that Anniston had been relaxing her normally strict eating regime and that with her forthcoming movie appearance weighing heavily on her mind, she was aware that steps would need to be taken to squeeze into the numerous tiny dresses required by the director.

Anderson said that Anniston has been progressing well under the baby plan, which is ideal for a total toning package where the emphasis is on clean eating. The diet includes soups, smoothies and pureed oatmeal. Anderson’s other clients include Courteney Cox and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Madonna named as the 80s fashion icon

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Madonna Louise Ciccone, aka Madonna, the original Material Girl, has been voted as the leading fashion icon from the 1980s

The record-breaking pop superstar’s dress sense, which was copied by fashion followers in almost every country on the planet, was recognised in a new survey of British women. The study was appropriately undertaken by Galaxy Counters – the retro chocolate.

Madonna beat fellow icons Kylie Minogue and Debbie Harry into a tie for second place, with her constant ability to update and stay one step ahead of current trends making her an undisputed fashion leader. Joan Collins, Jerry Hall and Annie Lennox rounded out the top five

Whether it was leg-warmers, mesh tops, stonewash denim, Ra Ra skirts or even kabbala bracelets, wrist-ties and chunky jewellery, Madonna started it or brought it back. Galaxy Counters spokesperson Jacqui Thomas said that one of every three UK women claimed that stonewash denim - which even today appears to be going through somewhat of a renaissance – was one of the 80s greatest fashion trends.

The chocolate maker launched the survey as it prepares to join the ranks of comeback cult classics with the prelaunch of the brand new looking Galaxy Counters – themselves an 80s institution and one of many favourites from that decade to make a reappearance of late.

For the more contemporary fashion leaders, Cheryl Cole was voted today’s most stylish woman ahead of eccentric songstress Lady Gaga. Emma Watson, Sienna Miller, Lily Allen and Agyness Dean also made the list.
